Liew Teck Huat

Senior Director

Teck Huat has extensive litigation experience of 20 years and has appeared before the courts at all levels in Malaysia as well as in Singapore. After graduating with an Honours degree in law from the University of Singapore in 1988, he was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Singapore in 1989 and the High Court of Malaya in 2001. He was also appointed to the Brunei High Court on an ad hoc basis as leading Counsel for a trial in a defamation action.

Teck Huat's legal experience includes insurance and reinsurance, intellectual property, defamation, shipping, admiralty, aviation, banking, insolvency, construction and other corporate disputes.

Teck Huat was instrumental in establishing an insurance, reinsurance and shipping practice group in Zaid Ibrahim & Co. which he led until he left the law firm. In 2004, he founded T H Liew & Partners. He is a Senior Director of Global Law Alliance LLC.

Apart from his extensive litigation experience, Teck Huat also conducts regular conferences and seminars and has been invited to speak on various topics on insurance, reinsurance, shipping and defamation issues to various participants in the industry.

He was a teaching member of the Singapore Law Society Advocacy Committee and a tutor in law with the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Singapore.

Teck Huat currently heads up the Malaysian Litigation Practice of Global Law Alliance LLC and is based in Kuala Lumpur.

He is multi-lingual. Other than English, he is well conversant in Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka.
